Exploring MI in China

Introduction by Howard Gardner

Recently, I had the pleasure of hearing two close colleagues discuss
the reception of multiple intelligences theory in China. Jie-Qi Chen
worked with me as a student in the 1980's and is now a professor
at the Erickson Institute in Chicago. Shen Zhilong is a professor
of chemistry, who turned his attention to arts education in recent
years. He has written works about multiple intelligences theory
and also translated some of my works into Chinese.

These two scholars present complementary accounts of MI in
China. After hearing their talks, I asked them whether they would
be willing to have their works posted on my web site. They kindly
agreed. Both scholars retain copyright on the talks.
